Teatro Paraguas presents Poesia de Mexico, a poetry tribute performance with eight actors performing some of the best of Mexican poetry of the last five centuries in Spanish, accompanied by projected English translations and live music.

The tribute begins with the poetry of Nezahualcoyotl which was written in Nuahuatl, and ends with the last poem of Javier Sicilia, whose innocent son was murdered in the drug wars in Mexico last year.
Poetry by Sor Juan de Ines, Amado Nervo, Octavio Paz, and Jaime Sabines and others is also included in the program. Poesia de Mexico is the ninth production in Teatro Paraguas' Poetry Tribute Series, which began with a tribute to the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda in 2004.
